A Leamington Spa community group supporting people facing homelessness, poverty and hardship has been awarded £1500 funding from Tesco.

The new funding was awarded to Helping Hands Community Project after they secured first place in the Tesco Stronger Starts store vote. This winner of the Stronger Starts fund is chosen by the community of Leamington Spa and Warwick.

Beyond providing hot meals, the organisation offers mental health support, a weekly nursing service, employability workshops, and opportunities through social enterprise initiatives.

Working across the local community, Helping Hands is committed to building trusted relationships and supporting individuals on their journey toward a more stable and positive future.

Jacqui Grove, Fundraising Manager at Helping Hands, said:

“We’re pleased that Tesco Strong Starts has recognised our work in this way. This support will enable us to provide hot, nutritious meals over the coming year, alongside essential life skills training, mental health support, and dedicated advocacy to help individuals secure stable accommodation.”

A service user added:

“Helping Hands is a safe, helpful and kind place that feels like home, it’s helped me with confidence, friendships and I get fed. Before I came here, I’d stay at home and not see anyone, it was lonely and very dark. Now I am confident and look forward to coming out and feeling a part of something that has changed my life.”
