Changing Attitudes Towards Sexual Violence: A Call to Action

This week marks Sexual Violence and Abuse Awareness Week, a crucial time to reflect on the reality of sexual harassment, abuse, and violence—issues that continue to affect far too many people, particularly women.

Sexual violence is not just a statistic. It is a lived experience for survivors who often face silence, shame, and systemic barriers when seeking justice and support. While we have made progress in raising awareness, there is still so much work to be done to challenge the attitudes, behaviors, and social norms that enable violence to persist.

🔹 It starts with conversations. We must talk openly about consent, respect, and boundaries—at home, in schools, and in workplaces.

🔹 It requires accountability. Calling out sexual harassment and harmful behavior when we see it, whether in a boardroom, on the street, or online, is a collective responsibility.

🔹 It demands systemic change. Policies, education, and support services must be strengthened to ensure survivors receive the justice and care they deserve.

We all have a role to play. Let’s stand together to create a culture where survivors are believed, where perpetrators are held accountable, and where sexual violence is never excused or ignored.

This week, let’s do more than just raise awareness—let’s take action. 💜
