Corporate Social Responsibility
Are you looking for ways to promote a positive company culture? Or perhaps you’re considering team bonding activities that are accessible to everyone. Helping Hands’ corporate volunteering opportunities are a fantastic way to bring people together for a common cause – uniting teams and giving back to the local community in a truly worthwhile way.
How your business can make a difference to the lives of people living within our community
Helping Hands is reliant on the generosity of an army of wonderful volunteers; without whom we would be unable to consistently reach, help and guide some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
Our motto at Helping Hands is that we provide ‘a hand-up, not just a hand-out’.
We believe that what people actually need in life is an opportunity to create a better future for themselves and their loved ones. Our community projects provide basic necessities, food and shelter; but more than that, they offer an opportunity for our clients to feel part of society again.
Through mentoring, skills workshops, work experience and training we create a pathway back to employment. We’re immensely proud of our achievement over the last few years, having helped over 30 clients into employment - but there’s still more to do.
How can your business help?
Over the years our corporate partners and volunteers have been instrumental in helping us to deliver our services to those in need within our community. Depending on the skill sets within your organisation, there could be a number of unique ways your team could support us. We’ve popped some ideas below but are keen to hear yours too!
Soup kitchens
Get your whole team involved by preparing and cooking the food we serve at one of our daily soup kitchens or breakfast services. With the support of our volunteers we serve over 800 hot meals a year - demonstrating what a vital service we’re delivering. These sessions are a great way to see your contribution in action and to observe what a meaningful difference you’re making to the lives of the people we support.

House2Home
Starting a new life and creating a new home often means you’re starting from scratch. We source and deliver furniture and white goods to individuals and families, within the community, who are trying to build a new life. We’ve delivered over 140 new home packs consisting of kitchen essentials, in just 12 months.
As with our other projects, we’re always on the look-out for donations, volunteers to drive our delivery vans and people to work in the warehouse.

Decorating and building maintenance
In the past, corporate teams have helped decorate houses and have also helped to refurbish our centre for client use. Maybe your team can turn their hand to building, electrical work, painting and more?

One of our most loved and necessary services; our annual shoebox appeal delivers hundreds of shoeboxes containing Christmas goodies to those in need.
